Here is a card I made using inspiration from the Friday Mashup challenge a few weeks ago. I never got to enter it in the challenge because my computer was playing up and it didn't get fixed until after the challenge closed. I wasn't 100% happy with it. After I stuck the elephant down I decided maybe I should have rotated it. I think it would have looked a bit better. It's a fairly simple looking card which took a lot of effort!
The challenge was to use patterns of some sort and/or at least three of the following colours: Summer Starfruit, Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo, Early Espresso and Sahara Sand.
I managed to use three main colours, but also incorporated all five into the panel with the elephant on. This uses my "shimmery" technique with a base of shimmer paint on glossy white cardstock, ink refills dropped onto the card, a layer of shimmer mist all dried out with the heat tool and then adhered to acetate using crystal effects. The elephant is stamped on the acetate using stazon
My patterns on the card were the honeycomb embossing, the random patterns of the ink, the pattern on the elephant and the fact that he comes from the Patterned Occasions Sale-a-Bration stamp set.
Here's a project that I forgot to post last time - I knew I'd done more than I gave myself credit for!
This was for my friend Tania's 40th from all of our craft friends. She loved it!
This uses some retired Berry Blossoms DSP and Calypso Coral DSP from the In Colour patterned paper collection. The big heart is the Scalloped Heart of Hearts embosslit and the small hearts are punched out using the small heart punch. The ribbon is Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon.
This is a card that I made for my friend Lisa's birthday a week ago and haven't posted yet. Oops! I mean I made it a while ago but her birthday was a week ago and I haven't mailed it as opposed to posting it here. I was playing with my shimmery technique again. The sentiment is from Pretty Petites, another SAB stamp set which co-ordinates with the cute little Curly Label punch, also a SAB item. I also used the XL Curly Label punch. The main image is Pleasant Poppies. I have used Real Red, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade ink. The ribbon is Calypso Coral and it was one of last years SAB items.
This is my recreation of a card that featured in the January Impressions magazine for SU demonstrators. It showcases some of this years SAB items: Vine Street embossing folder, Sycamore Street DSP and Madison Avenue stamp set. Wow! Looking at this photo my stamp-a-ma-jigging looks really crooked - it doesn't look this bad IRL.
This is a card I made for my Father-in-Law - his birthday is later in the week, so I do plan on posting this one today!!! It uses the leaves from French Foliage and a sentiment from Sincere Salutations. The embossing on the large oval is from the Designer Frames embossing folders. I have used Cajun Craze, Lucky Limeade and Always Artichoke.
This one is for my Mother-in-Law, whose birthday is later in the month. I will post it in the same envelope as the one above! I'm getting a bit lazy with my explanations because I'm posting so much at once! Sorry! I used Rose Red and Perfect Plum. The ribbon is retired ant the embossing folder on the plum is non-SU!
The following three are gift card holders for my niece, nephew and brother-in-law, whose birthdays all occur in a row. I'm going to visit them tomorrow.
My niece's favourite colour is green and the sentiment is a bit cheesy but it so suits her!
The lady whose blog I found the instructions for the bow on asked for credit when posting, but I have no idea where I found it! I printed off the instructions and read it later. If this was you, please let me know.
More SAB items for the boys' ones! Sycamore St DSP and Tangerine Tango ribbon from the ribbon and button pack. I have only stuck down half the sentiment (from the Bitty Banners stamp set and framelits) with dimensionals so that the ribbon can slide off.
Wow! You made it all the way to the end of my post! Thanks for visiting!
